To: Chandler Hall Residents, Families and Friends

We are writing to inform you that we have made the very difficult decision to close Chandler Hall’s Hospice Pavilion, one of the first inpatient residential hospice settings in Pennsylvania. The decision to close the Pavilion was not an easy one. Unfortunately, the changing economic climate and pressures of running a small, inpatient hospice program have made it impossible to continue operating our eight-bed Pavilion in the same manner as we have tirelessly done for decades.

Dame Cicely Saunders, the founder of the modern hospice movement, defines hospice not as a physical location but rather a philosophy of care, regardless of the setting. Please know that Chandler Hall is dedicated to providing the highest quality of hospice care to those in need. While the Hospice Pavilion is no longer in service, we will continue to make inpatient care available as needed in our Skilled Nursing Facility and other settings within our community.

I would like to reassure you that our Chandler Hall Home Hospice and Palliative Care Services will continue to serve our community with the same compassionate, holistic, patient-centered care we have always provided. To make the transition as smooth as possible, we are transferring as many of our existing Pavilion staff to other service lines within the Chandler Hall community.

Thank you for your continued support of Chandler Hall. It means a great deal to us to have people like you in our corner who believe in our mission and services to the community. We hope you will continue to support us as we work for a bigger and brighter future. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at the number or email address below.
